Tsedi, founder of Tsedi Baltena, Addis Ababa.

TSEDI is named after its founder, Tsedi, whose spice business began in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Her venture — Tsedi Baltena — is the starting point for a broader family ambition: making East Africa's distinctive spices and culinary ingredients accessible to more people.

The wooden mortar and pestle from the original shop sign remains at the heart of the TSEDI mark.

01 · The land

Rooted in East African fields.

Every spice begins with the people who grow it — on highland farms and in small plots where knowledge has passed down for generations.

02 · Traceability

Knowing where it comes from.

We aim to trace each ingredient back to the region and the hands that prepared it, and to share that journey openly on every product as it is confirmed.

03 · Income back home

Value that returns to its source.

Our ambition is for the families behind these flavours to share in their success — building fair, lasting income for the communities back home.
